April 11, 2010 - Join Songkran Festival
On April 11, 2553, we sincerely invite you to celebrate Thai New Year, a well-known Songkran or Water Festival, which will be held at the principal office of Wat Rattanavanaram in Sumter, South Carolina. The event's programs include merit-making; offering alms food to the monks; presenting robes and funds to the temple; listening to a Buddhist talk; dedicating merit to the dead relatives; watering the Buddha images and monks; blessing from the elders; splashing water over each other; tasting Thai desserts and food; and enjoying Songkran beauty queen contest and Thai cultural shows. The event will start at 9:30 a.m. onwards.
